Why do people hate chronicles of riddick

In a way, it predates the Asgardian lore of the MCU where everything is so advanced that some things appear to be magic but are likely just technology. It creates a very visually stunning universe that was different from anything else at the time and shows genuine care from David Twohy. Speaking of the universe, whether some cared for The Chronicles Of Riddick or not, it did pave the way for the massive universe which consists of three movies, an anime film, two shooter video games , and now the aforementioned fourth film in the works.

Pitch Black was never intended to spawn a franchise but David Twohy and Vin Diesel made the character of Riddick their passion project. He is not the main villain of the story but The Chronicles Of Riddick introduces Alexander Toombs, a merc with a determination to collect the bounty on Riddick's head.

Played by Nick Chinlund, Toombs was such a mix of charisma and villainy that it was hard for fans to hate him. Toombs was so beloved by fans that he would later return in the Dark Fury prequel anime.

When it was announced that a spin-off titled Merc City was being made , some fans were hoping Toombs would return as a star. David Twohy and Vin Diesel clearly know how Riddick should be portrayed.

Riddick has become known for his badass quotes that would come off as silly or cheesy if another actor or character attempted to say them. The Chronicles Of Riddick is no different: several of Riddick's lines are some of the best quotes in the entire franchise. With an increased budget, it meant that everything was bigger. While there are plenty of digital backgrounds for the alien worlds, there are also plenty of practical sets used.

Whether it's the city on Helion Prime, the prison on Crematoria, or the Lord Marshal's throne room: they are exquisitely designed.

The aforementioned mix of science fiction and fantasy made the design and architecture feel unique. Even when trekking across the surface of Crematoria, the land was designed on a set, giving more creativity.

Whereas both Pitch Black and Riddick had fitting but rather drab desert locations that were hardly memorable.

A vivisected brain in IMAX-sized closeup doesn't bother me, but your mileage may vary, so heed this warning. Your enjoyment will depend on whether you're a fan of Diesel's character.

While you won't need to see the prior installments to follow "Riddick," I've a feeling you'll get more pleasure if you bring your own supply of Riddick love. Because you won't be able to scrape it off the screen.

I can't imagine someone naming a planet Crematoria and the bad guys Necromongers with a straight face, and not in a total parody or the worst of the worst B movie prodution, but someone surely did here. It's pretty funny to see the script writers introducing all of these "shocking" habits of the Necromongers but not really explaining any one of them, so they really are meaningless and not that shocking at all since we never really find out what being "half dead and half alive," what being a necromonger, or anything else of what this mess of a movie really means.

There are occasional slivers of decent production values in Chronicles, but that's about it. The idea behind Riddick's anti-hero has potential too, but it's also handled pretty poorly. The bad guys look like death metal band members and their women look like vampires godesses or something like that.

This sequel definitely takes pride in it's special effects and visual style. It's a good looking film for the time that has a lot of unique imagery. You can tell that a lot of time was taken in order to really make this Cheesy sci-fi fun.

The film's plot is simple, but easy to follow. The acting, outside of Diesel and Dench, isn't quite up to snuff either. The female cast in particular is noticeably bad, and seem to have been selected based on looks alone.

Some of the dialog can be poor as well. It's still an enjoyable movie though. Particularly for those who are fans of the Riddick character. It's a very different film the the first movie Pitch Black , but packs enough exciting action and flawed fun to be worth a look.

It might not be one of the smartest or deepest sci-fi movie out there, no matter how hard it tries to be, but it's still a fun movie. One that succeeds thanks to it's strong visuals, it's likable lead in Diesel, and with it's fun action. Plot and acting might not be entirely up to snuff, but it's still worth a watch. Just expect some cheesiness. Typical sequel, not as good as the first but still pretty good in its own right.

These actors blow hard-core. Even Vin Desil which really is'nt to out of the ordinary blows. However, with that said i still think this movie could of been great What the heck kind of production notes are those? If the only way to understand the story fully is to read these completly dumb, child like clips of info then the so called 'director' really left alot out.
